Outdoor fires banned in parts of Sweden

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 7 (UPI) -- Residents of Stockholm, Sweden, who want to hold outdoor barbecues will have to use private property, as officials have declared a fire ban on public lands.

After weeks of little rain, the forests around Stockholm are dry and the danger of wildfires high, The Local reported.

The total fire ban in Stockholm County means that outdoor fires are not allowed on any public land, including parks. The only exceptions are fireplaces in designated campgrounds.

Other counties have imposed similar restrictions.
