Poland defense minister Sikorsky resigns

WARSAW, Poland, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Polish Defense Minister Radoslaw Sikorsky has resigned after a reported dispute with Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kazcynski over a U.S. missile shield in Europe.

A spokesperson for the Defense Ministry Monday said Sikorsky had stepped down but stopped short of offering the reason for his resignation, the Polish news agency PAP said.

The Serbian news agency Tanjug said Polish media had reported a growing conflict between Sikorsky and Kazcynski, who criticized the defense minister for the way he was negotiating talks with Washington about stationing a U.S. anti-missile defense system in Poland.
