Fla. police investigating attack video

MELBOURNE, Fla., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Police in Melbourne, Fla., are investigating a video posted on the Internet that shows a 13-year-old girl being beaten by her peers.

Local authorities are inspecting the video, posted on photobucket.com, following a police report filed Saturday by the injured girl, WKMG-TV of Orlando, Fla. reported.

The video shows the victim fighting with another girl, but the situation immediately becomes more volatile as two other girls assist in the attack against the 13-year-old, the report alleged.

Audio clues on the Internet video make it appear the entire incident was over a boy.

The alleged victim has named her attackers and authorities now plan to interview those suspects to determine if their stories match what the video revealed about the incident.

Melbourne Police Cmdr. Jim Gibbens said that the other girls could face potential criminal charges from the attack, due in part to their apparent lack of remorse.

"There are a lot of times people get angry and do something and then they immediately regret what they did," he told the station. "But in this situation, it appears that is not the case. There is no remorse or concern for the girl they attacked."
