Scotland convicts three for racist killing

EDINBURGH, Scotland, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- An Edinburgh court sentenced three Pakistani men to life in prison Wednesday for the retaliatory racist murder of a white teenage boy.

The verdict capped a 6-week trial of Imran Shahid, 29; his brother Zeeshan Shahid, 28; and Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq, 27.

Prosecutors said after a "white boy" had assaulted a fellow Pakistani at a club, the men and two others who have already been tried and sentenced, chose Kriss Donald at random to retaliate in March 2004.

They forced the 15-year-old boy into a car and drove around Glasgow for several hours before stabbing him 13 times, dousing him with gasoline and setting the victim on fire, The Telegraph reported.

The three men fled to Pakistan after the killing but were returned after a rare extradition deal was reached with Pakistan, the newspaper said.
