Missing California girl found safe

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- An 11-year-old San Jose, Calif., girl reported missing Tuesday evening after she failed to meet a friend, was found unharmed Wednesday morning.

Police say Mindy Mendoza was reported missing Tuesday evening after she failed to meet a friend at Fischer Middle School in East San Jose. Police received a call Wednesday morning that the girl was at her former school, Briarwood Elementary School, in Santa Clara.

Police say they believe she rode to the school, which is 11 miles away, on her bike, the San Jose Mercury News reported. It was unclear where she spent the night.
