Texas toddler found alive near home

ALVARADO, Texas, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A toddler, located three days after disappearing from his Alvarado, Texas, home, was slightly dehydrated, scratched, sunburned and bug-bitten.

Authorities found 2-year-old Kevin Brown in a stock tank Sunday less than a mile from his home, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Brown was taken to a Cleburne, Texas, hospital where he was examined and reunited with his parents, the paper said.

The child's mother, Karla Brown, said, "I was just thankful for my neighborhood and the police working on this because they had dedication to find my son," the Morning News reported Monday.

Authorities discovered the boy during a flyover by a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter pilot and a Garland city police officer, the paper said.

Johnson County Sheriff Bob Alford said the area was searched previously, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram said, adding that the toddler must have been moving around.
