Kerik unaware of sale of his memorabilia

NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- Goods offered on an Internet auction site purported from Bernard Kerik weren't placed for sale by the former N.Y. police commissioner.

It was reported last week that items, such as an NYPD jacket with "commissioner" on the back, were offered on eBay. The items weren't from Kerik, but had inadvertently been placed in storage and a third party obtained the items and put them up for auction without Kerik's knowledge, Kerik attorney Joseph Tacopina said.

The sale was stopped nearly immediately when Kerik's attorneys asked the items be pulled from the Internet auction site. None of the items sold and have since been returned, Tacopina said.

Among items listed on eBay were photos of Kerik with U.S. President George Bush and Queen Elizabeth.

There was also a letter of congratulation to Kerik on his nomination by Bush to be secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. That nomination was later withdrawn.
