Chicken pox vaccine poisons 46 in Jordan

AMMAN, Jordan, June 29 (UPI) -- Forty-six Sri Lankan laborers in Jordan have suffered from poisoning after being inoculated against chicken pox, reports said Wednesday.

The daily newspaper al-Rai said the laborers, including both men and women, were given the vaccine Tuesday and a short while later were rushed to the hospital in the industrial city of Sahab, east of Amman.

Medical sources said the conditions of the workers ranged from critical to mild poisoning, mainly due to the vaccine given to them by the doctor at the factory where they worked.

All but 10 of the workers were expected to be discharged from the hospital later Wednesday.
