"Our municipality has great respect and love for this man," said Alta Gracia Mayor Mario Bonfigli.

The festivities from June 11-20 will include lectures from experts on the Argentine doctor turned revolutionary who helped sparked the popular revolt in Cuba that brought Fidel Castro to power.

Guevara was eventually gunned down in Bolivia in 1967.
