Surrogate mom accused of selling baby

LIMBURG, Belgium, May 25 (UPI) -- Police in Belgium and Netherlands are investigating the alleged online sale of a baby for nearly $19,000 by a surrogate mother

A suspect allegedly told the baby's parents she had miscarried and then offered the child, who was born in February, for sale on the Internet, the BBC reported.

Investigators seized the woman's computer from her home in Limburg, Belgium. Her husband also is being questioned.

The woman allegedly agreed to carry the baby for a Flemish couple, who have requested a DNA test to prove the man is the baby girl's biological father. A Dutch couple, however, have started adoption proceedings and say they have no intention of giving up the child.
