Indiana governor signs time law

INDIANAPOLIS, May 14 (UPI) -- As of next year, the state of Indiana gets in synch with the rest of the country.

Gov. Mitch Daniels signed legislation Friday that puts Indiana on daylight savings time in the summer. The law takes effect Jan. 1, the Indianapolis Star reports.

Indiana will still be split between two time zones, with 82 counties on Eastern Time and 10 in the Central zone.

The legislation also requires Daniels to seek federal hearings on changing the time zone line to put the entire state on the same clock.
