9 indicted for smuggling arms to Syria

BEIRUT, Lebanon, April 13 (UPI) -- Lebanon's military prosecutor Wednesday charged nine people with possession of explosives they planned to smuggle into Syria via the eastern Bekaa valley.

Lebanese security forces arrested eight of the nine defendants last week in a Bekaa village near the Syrian border. They were inside a truck in which they concealed 50 kilograms of explosives.
