Paramedics remember finding bodies

HOUSTON, March 9 (UPI) -- Two paramedics testified in a Houston federal court Wednesday they found piles of bodies in a trailer truck loaded with illegal immigrants.

The testimony came during the murder trial of Tyrone Williams. He's accused in the deaths two years ago of 19 aliens whose bodies were found in a sweltering trailer truck, the Houston Chronicle reported. He would face the death penalty if convicted.

"It's probably one of the most overwhelming things I've ever seen," said Victoria Fire Department Capt. Donna Odem-Dollins. "There were piles and piles of bodies."

Police said 17 bodies were found in the sealed trailer that had been abandoned at a truck stop in Victoria, Texas. Two other immigrants found in the truck died later at a hospital.

Earlier, survivor Matias Rafael Medina Flores testified he and other passengers screamed at Border Patrol agents at a checkpoint before they arrived at the truck stop, but no one responded.
