Dallas police search for kidnap victim

DALLAS, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Dallas police Thursday searched for a member of a prominent restaurant family who was kidnapped in broad daylight after a minor car accident.

Oscar Sanchez, 30, has been missing since the accident Tuesday in the Oak Cliff section of the city. His family runs the La Calle Doce and El Ranchito restaurants in Dallas.

"We're hoping for a miracle," his uncle, Jesus Sanchez, told The Dallas Morning News.

The kidnappers failed to show up for a ransom rendezvous and police raided a home in suburban Duncanville Wednesday. They found evidence of a bloody struggle, the News reported.

Police late Wednesday relaxed a request that the news media not identify the victim and the family's attorney said they expect a reward to be offered for information.

Sanchez was talking with his mother on his cell phone after the fender-bender Tuesday. She heard some of his conversation with the suspects and rushed to the scene only to find his empty car with the engine running, police said.
