Election campaign starts in territories

GAZA, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Two weeks of campaigning for the Palestinian presidential elections got under way Saturday in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Seven candidates are running for president Jan. 9, including Palestinian Liberation Organization chief Mahmoud Abbas as the Fatah movement candidate.

Campaign posters and banners went up Saturday along main Gaza Strip roads.

Egyptian election observers were due to arrive in the Palestinian territories Saturday.
