Speaking after Friday prayers Khamanei also blasted U.S. President George W. Bush whom he accused of complicity with Israel.

"The Europeans are just pretending and claiming to be defenders of human rights otherwise they would not have kept silent over the Israeli crimes," Khamenei said.

"George Bush and his administration are accomplices in the crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinian people."

Khamenei charged the "big noise provoked by the U.S. and certain European countries over Iran's nuclear abilities is in fact due to our great scientific achievements and development."

He also reiterated Iran's stance that "it is not planning to pile up and use nuclear weapons."
