Flag maker shows 9/11 colors

By RICHARD TOMKINS, UPI White House Correspondent

HUNTINGTON PARK, N.Y., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- New York flag maker AmericanFlags.com is giving away the Stars and Stripes to commemorate the third anniversary of al-Qaida's attacks.

Jeffrey Reynolds, president and CEO of the company, said patriotism helped pull Americans through the shock of the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people, but "many of the flags that seemed so prevalent in the fall of 2001 have all but disappeared or are flying in a tattered state.

"We want to make sure that EVERY American is properly flying the flag on 9/11 in support of freedom and in support of those here and abroad who are fighting to preserve our freedom."

The company expects to give away more than 100,000, 3-ft by 5-ft flags through its Website by Sept. 11.
