Clayton, who interviewed the Plano woman three times, testified in the fourth day of the murder trial in the deaths of Kamryn, 3, and Briana, 5, in their home Sept. 25.. If convicted, Diaz could receive a life prison sentence.

Clayton said Diaz became obsessed with her health after she was sickened following a flu shot in January 2002. She said Diaz feared her daughters had the same illiness and sought out several cures but decided they would be better off dead.

After drowning her daughters, Diaz attempted to take her own life by stabbing herself in the chest and neck, the psychiatrist testified.
