
PITTSBURGH, July 5 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. John Kerry has selected his vice presidential running mate, but is keeping the information to himself, campaign workers told CNN Monday.
"It's clear Kerry has made a decision and is committed to announcing it on his terms with discipline more typically associated with Republican campaigns of yesteryear," an unidentified Democratic official said.
Kerry recently told consultants that the choice was in his hands now, according to a Democratic source, and that he was "proud" of the confidentiality of his vice presidential selection process.
There are three men widely believed to be on Kerry's short-list -- Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, and Missouri Rep.Richard Gephardt.
The Democrats hold their annual convention in Boston at the end of the month, where Kerry is to formally get the party's presidential nod.
