Idaho slaying tied to parolee crime spree

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho, June 16 (UPI) -- Idaho authorities Wednesday linked the slaying of a Mountain Home teenager to the brief and violent crime spree attributed to parolee Richard Wilson.

Wilson, who killed himself during a confrontation with Utah police, shot and injured two people in Utah and is suspected of being responsible for the May disappearance of college student Brooke Wilberger in Corvallis, Oregon.

Sheriff Rick Layher of Elmore County, Idaho, told a news conference Wednesday bullets from the June 9 Utah shootings matched those found during the investigation into the death of Theresa Garcia, who was shot four times in her bedroom the previous day.

The Idaho Statesman said Layher informed reporters Garcia's murder appeared to have been a random act on the part of Wilson, who lived in Washington state.
