Sister of murdered Serb leader attacked

BELGRADE, Serbia, May 17 (UPI) -- Serbian physicians worked Monday to determine what happened to the sister of Serbia's murdered leader after she was injected with an unknown substance.

Unidentified men burst into Gordana Djindjic-Filipovic's house southwest of Belgrade Saturday night and injected her with an unknown substance, the BBC reported.

She was in a stable condition Monday after being taken to a hospital for tests to determine what was in the injection. Police, meanwhile, searched for suspects.

Her brother, Zoran Djindjic, was a pro-western reformer who helped topple ex-Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic. In March 2003, he was killed by a Belgrade sniper.

Thirteen suspects are being tried in the assassination, although some have yet to be detained.

Serbian radio reports said Djindjic-Filipovic's attackers threatened to kill her whole family if a key suspect in the murder case, Milorad Lukovic, was convicted.
