Pentagon sets up sex assault report line

WASHINGTON, March 4 (UPI) -- The Pentagon Thursday set up another toll-free phone number for U.S. service members to report sexual assault.

Each of the armed services has also set up toll-free numbers.

More than 100 female soldiers have reported being sexually assaulted by fellow troops while deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, with more than 80 of the cases in the Army.

The Pentagon is conducting a 90-day review of the processes for reporting sexual assault in the military and the treatment of the victims.

The new number is 1-800-497-6261 and is staffed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.
