Israel kills Lebanese shepherd at border

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Israeli forces killed a Lebanese shepherd near the international border Tuesday in the second such incident in recent months, security sources said.

They said Israeli troops opened fire at the man as he drew closer to the border in the village of Wazani inside Lebanese territory, killing him instantly.

The troops then crossed into Lebanon and retrieved the body.

There was no immediate official comment on the incident.

A few months ago Israeli troops killed two Lebanese hunters who ventured near the border, also in Wazani village, which faces the Israeli settlement of Metulla.
