One killed in L.A. post-All Star partying

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- One person was killed in a Hollywood restaurant parking lot Monday as crowds capped off a night of post-NBA All-Star Game partying.

Los Angeles police robbery-homicide detectives were still at the scene at mid-morning in the Denny's parking lot on the Sunset Strip looking for clues in the incident that also left one person injured and sent dozens of patrons diving for cover.

KTLA television in Los Angeles said the shooting apparently started with an argument between two groups of customers at around 3 a.m. local time, and ended when someone pulled a gun and opened fire.

The shooting capped an unusually raucous Sunday night on the Strip. The LAPD closed down Sunset Blvd. for a period after the game at Staples Center due to the large crowd. Some bottles were thrown at officers, but there was otherwise little real trouble.
