Chuck Berry playing for Gephardt

DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Rep. Dick Gephardt is trusting to the power of classic rock 'n' roll to carry him over the top in the Iowa caucuses of the U.S. presidential race.

On Sunday, only a day before the caucuses gather across Iowa to signal their recommendations for president among the dueling Democratic candidates, the Missouri congressman is throwing a "Rolling towards Victory" celebration for supporters at a Des Moines hotel.

The gathering will feature another Missourian famous for his tours -- rock 'n' roll legend Chuck Berry. On a slightly different key -- and perhaps appealing to a different demographic, the Gephardt campaign is also showing off a performance by singer Michael Bolton, who joined the campaign tour Saturday.

The indefatigable Gephardt certainly does not lack for energy or drive. On Tuesday morning, only 12 hours after the Iowa caucuses decide, he will kick off his last week of campaigning for the New Hampshire primary with a "Countdown to Victory" rally in the state capital, Manchester.
