Inter-Kurd fighting erupts in north Iraq

ANKARA, Turkey, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Kurdish forces clashed Monday with separatist Turkish Kurds belonging to the Labor party of jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan, reports said.

The Turkish NTV television quoted security sources as saying fighting erupted two days ago in the region of Jebel Meten near the Turkish-Iraqi border.

All types of weapons were used in the fighting in which one fighter was killed and 10 wounded. It was not immediately known to which party the casualties belonged.

The sources said U.S. troops were seen backing Massoud Barzani's Kurdistan Democratic Party forces against the Turkish separatists, whose leader is jailed for life in Turkey.
