Europeans protest Iraqi war, Israel, U.S.

LONDON, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Thousands of anti-war protestors took to London's streets Saturday to demand England end its involvement in Iraq.

Police estimated the crowd at about 10,000, CNN reported.

Coordinated protests in Berlin and other European cities also called for an end to the occupation in Iraq and Israel's hold on Palestinian territory, CNN said.

The turnout in London, however, was far below a February pre-war protest that drew an estimated million marchers for the largest political demonstration in the history of the United Kingdom, CNN said.

About 2,000 protesters gathered in the Greek capital Athens. Only about 400 people turned out for a pro-Palestinian rally in Berlin, CNN said, and they were met by 80 counter protestors waving Israeli and U.S. flags.

About 200 anti-U.S. protesters gathered on the central square in Vienna and a march was scheduled later in the evening in Spain.
