New book says LBJ killed JFK

NEW YORK, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- A new book claims Lyndon Johnson was behind the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The author of "Blood, Money & Power: How LBJ killed JFK" is Barr McClellan, father of White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan, the New York Daily News reports.

He writes Johnson tapped his top confidant and personal adviser, Edward Clark, to handle the dirty details as early as 1961. Clark died at age 86 in 1992.

The book is due out Sept. 30 from Hannover House.

McClellan, a retired attorney who worked with Clark, says of Johnson, who was sworn in as president shortly after Kennedy's death in Dallas: "He was a bad man. There were all these things going on ... and so much cash was coming through."

Scott McClellan was traveling with President Bush and was unavailable to comment on the book.
