Govt. Affairs panel to probe Enron failure

WASHINGTON, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Sen. Joe Lieberman announced Wednesday that the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee he chairs will investigate the financial collapse of Enron Corp. Lieberman, D-Conn., described the Enron investigation as a committee priority for 2002, in an effort to determine whether government agencies could have done more to protect people and businesses hurt by the company's bankruptcy.
