BOSTON, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- A former member of the Boston Celtics' 'Big Three' will retire solo next season.
Paul Pierce announced Wednesday on Sirius XM NBA that he will sign and retire next summer with the Celtics. His 24,021 points with the Celtics are the eleventh most by any play for one team in NBA history. Pierce is set to play in the TD Garden on Sunday, Feb. 5 when the Los Angeles Clippers travel to Boston.

The 38-year-old averaged 21.8 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 15 seasons with the Celtics. The 10-time All-Star won a title with the team in 2007. Pierce averaged 6.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and one assist per game last season with the Clippers. He is due $3.5 million this season.
