Kevin Poulin was called upon to sub for starting goalie Rick DiPietro, who will miss 4-6 weeks after suffering facial fractures during a Wednesday fight against Pittsburgh goalie Brent Johnson.

Poulin responded by stopping 20 shots.

The slumping Senators, meanwhile, dropped their ninth straight game.

Mike Fisher, Chris Neil and Alex Kovalev scored for Ottawa but Brian Elliot allowed three first-period goals on 13 shots before being pulled in favor of Robin Lehner.

Lehner ended with 23 saves.
