ATLANTA, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Kyle Okposo notched his first two goals of the year after returning from a shoulder injury, lifting the New York Islanders to a 4-1 win over Atlanta Tuesday.
Okposo, who racked up 52 points for the Islanders last season, was playing in his sixth game of the this season since coming back from rotator cuff surgery.
His first goal came on a rebound in front of the Thrashers net with less than 4 minutes remaining in the second period, putting New York ahead 2-1. He added a third-period marker while Travis Hamonic collected his first career goal and P.A. Parenteau also scored for the Isles.
Kevin Poulin turned aside 25-of-26 shots, as New York snapped a three-game losing streak.
Atlanta's lone goal came from Freddy Meyer and Ondrej Pavelec made 29 saves in the Thrashers' eighth setback in 10 games.
