NBA: New Orleans 101, Phoenix 98

NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Chris Paul scored 21 points, including two free throws in the closing moments Saturday night, and the New Orleans Hornets beat Phoenix 101-98.

Paul also had 10 assists, and Morris Peterson scored 21 for the Hornets, who won for the first time in three games.

David West had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Tyson Chandler had 14 points and 18 rebounds and Rasual Butler scored 12 for New Orleans.

Leandro Barbosa scored 19 points -- one of six Suns who finished in double figures. Raja Bell and Grant Hill had 17 each and Amare Stoudemire finished with 16 points and eight rebounds for Phoenix, which has lost three of its last four games.

The Hornets led by 13 at halftime, but Phoenix got back in the game in the third quarter, putting together a 10-2 run at one point to get within 72-69.

Stoudemire hit two free throws with 35 seconds left to make it 99-98, but Paul iced the victory when he sank two free throws with less than one second left on the clock.
