MLB: Kansas City 12, Tampa Bay 4

KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 8 (UPI) -- Tony Pena Sunday had three hits and four RBI to help the Kansas City Royals trounce Tampa Bay, 12-4.

Pena hit a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth and an RBI double in the eighth.

Three Royals drove in two runs apiece; David DeJesus and Mark Grudzielanek each had an RBI; Emil Brown, Ross Gload and Alex Gordon all scored twice; while Pena and Grudzielanek both had three hits for the Royals -- who won twice in the three-game series.

The winner was Jorge De La Rosa (7-9).

Tampa Bay's Jonny Gomes went 4-for-4 with a solo homer and three RBI. Dioner Navarro drove in one run and Ty Wigginton scored twice for the Devil Rays, who have dropped nine of their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was Scott Kazmir (5-6).
