Yankees' Rodriguez leads AL All-Star vote

NEW YORK, June 12 (UPI) -- New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez continues to lead all American League players in voting for this year's Major League All-Star Game.

Rodriguez has 1,404,001 votes. Next closest third baseman is Boston's Mike Lowell with only 528,895 votes.

Rodriguez' teammate, shortstop Derek Jeter, is second in the AL voting with 1,161,162 votes.

Boston's David Ortiz leads at first base with 1,055,260 votes.

Detroit's Placido Polanco leads at second base with 572,238 votes. Polanco's teammate, Ivan Rodriguez, leads the catchers with 679,403 votes.

The top three outfielders are the Los Angeles Angels' Vladimir Guerrero with 1,118,951 votes, Boston's Manny Ramirez with 823,269 and Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki with 757,275.

The 78th All-Star Game will be played Tuesday, July 10, in San Francisco.
