PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- The U.S. Homeland Security Department has certified Wackenhut Services Inc.'s security and fire services for placement on the agency's approved products list.
Florida-based WSI says its security services, including paramilitary offerings along with fire and emergency response services, have passed the rigorous evaluation of the Homeland Security Department's Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology Act.
The SAFETY Act was "designed to encourage the development and deployment of anti-terrorism technologies and services to enhance the security of the United States," the release said.
With the SAFETY Act designation and certification WSI has been placed on the Homeland Security Department's approved products list.
