Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe 'DOWN WITH LOVE' TO DEBUT AT TRIBECA FILM FEST "Down With Love," a new romantic comedy starring Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor, will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival tonight. Advertisement A valentine to the 1960s Doris Day-Rock Hudson comedies, "Down With Love" is the tale of a woman sworn off men and a ladies' man who doesn't think he needs love. Zellweger and McGregor are expected to attend the event at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, along with co-stars David Hyde Pierce, Tony Randall and Sarah Paulson, Kathleen Turner, Kirsten Dunst, Heather Graham and the festival's founders, Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal. "Down With Love" opens nationwide May 16. The Tribeca Film Festival is now in its second year. CHARLIZE EXPLAINS ONE-YEAR BREAK Advertisement Charlize Theron, who disappeared from the movie scene after a string of films, is back with a new film, "The Italian Job." When the "Sweet November," "Reindeer Games" and "Cider House Rules" actress was asked if she decided to take a year off because the thrill of fame was too much, the South African stunner replied: "I've never wanted to be a celebrity. I didn't know what a celebrity was until came here. I grew up in a culture where there really wasn't any reading materials on (the subject.)" Theron said she loved movies but "had no idea that Tom Cruise was a star." Explaining that she still isn't really into the whole Hollywood scene, Theron said: "I try to create a life that I really want to live. I don't want compromise in my work or my life. So, I live in L.A. but I live in the mountains with my stray dog, and I have an acre of property and I love gardening, and that's my haven and that's where I live and I travel a lot. I love to travel... I really make a very clear decision on what part of my life becomes public and what part doesn't." Advertisement WEDDING BELLS FOR 'FRIENDS' STAR "Friends" star Matthew LeBlanc went from "How you doin?" to "I do" over the weekend, marrying his long-time girlfriend. LeBlanc is known as the cute, but dumb, soap star and resident womanizer on the hit TV sit-com. The 35-year-old actor married Melissa McKnight on a Hawaiian beach at sunset Saturday night. On hand to help him celebrate his wedding were co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox Arquette and Lisa Kudrow. David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry were not able to attend the happy occasion. OUTER CRITICS HONOR 'TAKE ME OUT,' 'HAIRSPRAY' "Take Me Out" was named the year's best play and "Hairspray" the best musical when the Outer Critics Circle handed out awards Monday. "Take Me Out" won a total of three prizes, including one for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play for Denis O'Hare and Outstanding Director of a Play for Joe Mantello. "Hairspray" won the most awards: one for Outstanding Director of a Musical for Jack O'Brien, Outstanding Costume Design for William Ivey Long, Outstanding Actress for Marissa Jaret Winokur and Outstanding Featured Actor for Dick Latessa. Advertisement "Nine" won three awards, including one for Outstanding Revival of a Musical, as well as the Outstanding Actor in a Musical honor for Antonio Banderas and the Outstanding Featured Actress in A Musical prize for Jane Krakowski. "A Day in the Death of Joe Egg" won the award for Outstanding Revival of a Play, while its star, Eddie Izzard, took home the prize for Outstanding Actor in a Play.
