Oprah to host Oscar star special

HOLLYWOOD, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Oprah Winfrey has a new deal with ABC for a pre-Oscars U.S. television special in which past Academy Award winners interview fellow Oscar winners.

Daily Variety reports Winfrey's HARPO Productions has signed up Academy Award winning actors Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman and Jamie Foxx to interview "an Oscar winner they admire."

Roberts will interview George Clooney, Kidman will dish with fellow Aussie Russell Crowe, and Foxx will question Sidney Poitier for insights.

Oprah will oversee it all from the executive producer's chair.

Joan Rivers and her daughter, Melissa, will be on the red carpet Oscar night, and Barbara Walters will still host her annual Oscar-night special, although it was not known who she would be interviewing. Her show airs just before the Oscar broadcast in most of the country and after the broadcast in the western United States.

The Academy Awards will be presented on Feb. 25.
