LONDON, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Rockers Franz Ferdinand landed nominations in five categories in the 2005 Brit Awards, which will donate at least $900,000 to help tsunami survivors.
The nominations, which include best British group, cap an incredible year for the band that released its first album last February, the BBC reported Tuesday.
Muse garnered four nominations while newcomer Kasabian had three nominations -- the speediest rise to honor since Kasabian's first album was released in September. Other groups nominated in three categories include Natasha Bedingfield, Keane, Jamelia, Snow Patrol and The Streets.
A special prize for Best British song will be given next month at the 25th anniversary of the Brit Awards. The finalists are "Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Joy Division, "Wuthering Heights" by Kate Bush, "We Are the Champions" by Queen, "Angels" by Robbie Williams and "Leave Right Now" by Will Young.
At least $900,000 from the Feb. 9 show will be donated to Save the Children to aid Asian tsunami survivors, officials said.
