LOS ANGELES, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The American Society of Cinematographers has announced Oscar winner Fred Koenekamp will receive its lifetime achievement award.
Koenekamp -- who shared the Oscar for cinematography in 1964 with Joseph Biroc for "The Towering Inferno" -- will receive the ASC award at the organization's 19th annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards on Feb. 20 in Los Angeles.
Koenekamp -- whose father Hans Koenekamp received the ASC President's Award in 1991 -- broke into cinematography in 1964 on the action-spy TV series "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." He was nominated for Emmys for his work on the show in 1965 and '66.
Koenekamp was nominated for cinematography Oscars for "Islands in the Stream" in 1977 and "Patton" in 1970. His other feature film credits include "Papillon," "Billy Jack" and "The Amityville Horror."
