Slater writing film about strip club trip

VANCOUVER, March 1 (UPI) -- Christian Slater is writing a film based on his headline making romp at a Vancouver strip club with fellow Hollywood star Ben Affleck.

Accounts of what may have taken place there earned Affleck a spot on the front page of the National Enquirer and may have contributed to the demise of his relationship with Jennifer Lopez.

"That whole thing kind of inspired me to maybe be a little creative with it and begin to develop a story about it, 'cause it's just so hilarious," Slater told the Vancouver Sun. "Something maybe around media and the schemes and the manipulation of it all ... It would be a lot of fun."

However, a spokesman for Slater denied he is looking to capitalize on the scandal.

"I don't care what was printed. I categorically deny it," he said.

But Elan Mastai, who is working on the script with Slater, also gave the Sun the impression the story would be about the incident, but downplayed that angle when contacted by MSNBC.

"(Slater) has spent a number of years living in the celebrity fishbowl," Mastai told MSNBC. "It's a thriller about con men, filmmakers and tabloid reporters."
