Electric Boat gets $329 million nuclear sub support contract modification

Modification exercises option for design, engineering and support of the U.S. Navy's active nuclear submarines.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- General Dynamics Electric Boat has been awarded a $329 million U.S. Navy contract modification for work on the sea service's active nuclear submarines.

The modification exercises the option for design agent, planning yard, engineering and technical support for the active nuclear fleet.

Work will be performed in Connecticut, Washington, Virginia, Rhode Island, Georgia and Hawaii. The expected completion date is September 2018.

Naval Sea Systems Command is the contracting activity.
