The summit is organized to help accelerate the development and deployment of new energy and infrastructure solutions for both the installation and operational missions of the U.S. military.

DES said finalists in the challenges will be given access to The Pike Powers Laboratory & Center for Commercialization for independent product performance testing.

"The challenge programs are designed to address the massive and complex energy needs of the Department of Defense," said Matthew Laudon, co-chairman of the DES. "The Defense Energy Summit in Austin is a direct extension of both the Defense and Utility Challenges, and with the support of the Pike Powers Lab, we are delivering the largest pool of energy solutions."
