CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 1 (UPI) -- UTC Aerospace Systems' DB-110 airborne reconnaissance system is being supplied to the Turkish air force for use on F-16 aircraft.

The DB-110 is an electro-optic/infra-red sensor reconnaissance pod that transmits images in real time to ground analysts and pilots.

UTC said the contract was given it by Aselsan Elektronic Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. on behalf of the Turkish air force. The order is for four DB-110 pods for the F-16s and for three fixed/transportable imagery exploitation systems. UTC will also provide training to Turkish personnel and provide logistics support for the systems.

Details on the value of the contract and the scheduled delivery of the systems weren't provided by the companies.

"This selection by Turkey marks our ninth award on the F-16 aircraft and with this growing customer base; the DB-110 has become the standard for F-16 reconnaissance systems around the world," said Kevin Raftery, UTC's vice president of ISR Systems.
