VSI producing helmet cueing systems

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 9 (UPI) -- A helmet-mounted cueing system for high "off-bore weapons engagement" is being provided for U.S. and allied militaries by Vision Systems International.

The contract for the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System was given to the company by Boeing and is worth more than $32 million.

In addition to the systems, the contract covers spares, technical support and ground support for the JHMCS, which will enter full-rate production.

"JHMCS, our first combat proven helmet, remains the world's leading helmet display for fixed-wing tactical aircraft," said VSI President Phil King. "It is known and respected by fighter-attack pilots around the world because it enables them to maintain 'eyes out' while viewing critical information on the helmet visor.

"JHMCS gives pilots unparalleled situational awareness, providing them a significant advantage in both air-to-air and air-to-ground mission execution."

The company said deliveries will begin this year and carry through to 2013.

VSI is a joint venture of Elbit Systems of America and Rockwell Collins.

The JHMCS being produced will be used aboard F-15, F-16 and F/A 18 aircraft.
