VT Group to support Navy C4ISR systems

GAITHERSBURG, Md., Jan. 31 (UPI) -- A Virginia business unit of Maryland's VT Group will provide shipboard and shore-based C4ISR services for the U.S. Navy.

The contract from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command has a three-year performance base valued at $843 million and one two-year option. If the option is exercised, total value of the contract would be $1.3 billion.

"We are proud to continue to provide installation and technical services to the U.S. Navy and other SPAWAR-supported customers," said Walt Yourstone, president of VT Milcom, which has headquarters in Virginia. "VT Milcom has served SPAWAR for more than 35 years and we look forward to continuing this partnership."

Under the contract, VT Milcom will provide installation and operational certification of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

The work will be for surface ships, submarines and ground installations worldwide.

The VT Group is part of Babcock International of Great Britain.
