EB Elektrobit delivers VoIP tech

OULU, Finland, May 21 (UPI) -- Finnish defense authorities have received delivery of EB Elektrobit Corp.'s voice-over Internet Protocol technology and will begin a performance evaluation.

EB Elektrobit says its EB Tough VoIP system is designed to provide military units with a mission critical communications technology capable of operating in rugged combat zones and other demanding tactical radio environments.

Company officials say the EB Tough VoIP is also designed with new broadband data communications technologies and enhanced voice over IP services among other ruggedized functions for ground forces.

EB Elektrobit announced it has successfully delivered its EB Tough VoIP for evaluation in a series of rigorous field tests by the Finnish army as part of the military's move to integrate more network centric technologies.

"EB Tough VoIP was designed to fulfill the communications needs of military units, and we continue to strive towards achieving that goal," Mikko Viitaniemi, EB Elektrobit Defense Products, Wireless Solutions senior manager, said in a statement.
