Iran denounces detention of Iranians in US

By MODHER AMIN

TEHRAN, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Iran reacted Saturday to the recent detention of a number of its nationals in the United States, describing the act as "insulting" and a "violation of international conventions on civil rights." U.S immigration officials on Friday announced that as many as 500 Middle Eastern nationals, mostly Iranians, had been detained in California since Monday when male visa holders had to comply with an anti-terrorism law and register with local immigration offices.
