LOS ANGELES, June 23 (UPI) -- Selma Blair is happy she was cast as Kris Jenner on upcoming FX series American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson.

The 43-year-old actress discussed the role and the 59-year-old reality star in an interview with Access Hollywood. American Horror Story co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk will executive produce the show, which is scheduled to premiere in 2016.

"It's not something I can really talk about because Ryan Murphy's so mum on his scripts, but it's a small part for me and a joy to be a part of this. I love everything Ryan does, I also love Kris. It's good to have work in LA with someone that you think it so extremely talented."

American Crime Story season one will follow the trial of former NFL star O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted of killing ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson in 1995. Jenner was a close friend of Nicole Brown Simpson's, and her ex-husband, Robert Kardashian, served as Simpson's defense attorney.

"Kris is someone that is so present in our lives that you feel like you can just watch her mannerisms, but it's from such a different time," Blair shared. "I have talked to Kris and find her to actually be an extraordinary woman. So strong and caring and beautiful."

Cuba Gooding, Jr. will star as Simpson, with David Schwimmer as Kardashian, John Travolta and Courtney B. Vance as fellow defense attorneys Robert Shapiro and Johnnie Cochran and Sarah Paulson as head prosecutor Marcia Clark.

"It's one of those stories that's just fixed in your dreams," Murphy recently told Deadline of the subject matter. "It's very intense, and the reason I'm even a part of it was because I'd read the first two scripts just as a fan, and I thought they were so fantastic that I wanted to help get them made."

Jenner and her family currently star on E! reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Blair last appeared on FX series Anger Management, and is also scheduled for Sex, Death and Bowling with Adrian Grenier and Geezer with Billie Joel Armstrong.
