MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- After reporter Peter Vecsey went on a Twitter rant saying that Kevin Love has told Flip Saunders that he will opt out of his contract in the summer of 2015, the Minnesota Timberwolves general manager fired back with a tweet of his own.

If Love were planning to opt out next summer, it would likely make sense for Minnesota to trade him in advance of the NBA trade deadline on Thursday afternoon.

In addition to the Los Angeles Lakers, Vescey also reported that Love was interested in joining the Boston Celtics or Chicago Bulls.

For his part, Love has said publicly that he is open to staying in Minnesota.

"People think it's so far-fetched that I would stay in Minnesota," he said during an interview with GQ. "And I'm not [expletive] on the Lakers, but we have the better team, the better foundation. I'm having fun."
